It's been great. Their is one statement that I've heard from a few people that I don't get... "once you get over being sore from working out you'll love it". Um.... Last Weeks Progress Workouts- 3 45 Minute Workouts Weight- -2 lbs (total -4 lbs) I am the type of person that if I don't enjoy doing something I won't do it. I've found this especially true with working out. I'm not one to work out with a friend, I'm a bit of a loner when it comes to exercising so my playlist is of the utmost importance. The gym I go to has individual TV's on each of the cardio machines and I like to watch the news while I'm on the treadmill. However, sometimes the news … [Read more...]

Last Weeks Progress- Workouts- 4 Weight Change- 0 Progress note- I didn't have a weight loss last week, but know that is not discouraging me.  A long time ago I read this article "Why The Scale Lies" and it really gave me a different perspective on how I view what it says.  The bigger measure to me is how I feel and how my clothes fit.  I have to say I do feel better, the fatigue problems I was having has not been as big of an issue since I've been working out and eating better.  I know … [Read more...]

Last Weeks Progress- Workouts- 3 Weight Change- -2 pounds So far so good on the working out. I'm still somewhat limited due to the pleurisy. I still get short of breath easy and I'm still having some pain so I've been taking it slow.  However, I was pretty proud of myself, for not being completely well and I haven't worked out in years, I was feeling pretty good about my progress. I've been doing a mile and a half in a little under 30 minutes. So I went into the gym hyped up the other … [Read more...]

Health Aha Moment- Upcoming Post Series

I've been having some health issues and I've recently been diagnosed with pleurisy. With everything going on I had to have a bunch of blood work done and a chest X-ray. I was extremely nervous about how it would all come out. I'm 39, over weight, I smoke, had gestational diabetes, eat out way to much and I don't exercise. This is all a recipe for disaster!  I fully expected something to come up on the blood work- high cholesterol, high blood sugar, something. My nerves got the best of me … [Read more...]

It hits home when someone I remember so vividly from my growing up passes away.  Today, news has come through that Adam Yauch, better known as MCA from the Beastie Boys, has passed away.  He was 47.  He'd been treated for cancer for the last couple of years, which is always sad.  Cancer sucks.  There's no better way to say it.  Personally, I have been affected by it on too many levels.  My heart goes out to his wife and daughter. In 2009, MCA announced he was being treated for a cancerous … [Read more...]

Journaling Inspiration: Artwork

Artists and artwork can invoke so many emotions.   I thought that to help inspire your journaling this week, I would show some work from popular artists to provoke thoughts for your writing. Choose one of these works to write about this week. Think about the feelings that you feel when you look at it. Think about the location and the time period of the photo. Think about the artist himself, and what his style invokes upon you. Write anything you feel or think about when you look at the photo … [Read more...]

2012 Healthy Living Challenge ~ Stock Up On Healthy Snacks For The Weekend

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

I know when I was really active on Weight Watchers the hardest time for me were the weekends.  During the week I'm at work so I'm able to stay busy and don't really think about snacking.  Over the weekend being home it would all go down the drain. There is no way I can give up snacking, I've tried and it doesn't work for me. I quickly realized that the important thing wasn't for me to give up the snacks but to make smarter decisions on what snacks I was eating.   I grocery shop on Friday's so … [Read more...]

Do you speak the TRUTH when journaling?

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

That's the question. Are you honest with yourself when journaling?  I find myself wanting to make things sound "better". Why do I do that??  Maybe it's because I don't want to face the truth~ or I want whatever I'm writing about to sound better to some unknown person who reads it later.  It's a constant awareness for me when I'm writing to be truthful and not embellish for that unknown person.  Questions like the ones listed below are HARD TO ANSWER.  They spark emotion, feelings and … [Read more...]

Every single year I vow to get in shape. Every single year, I don't!  This year is different and I will tell you why... I have money on it!  Not just money but pride also!  This year (actually about 11 weeks from now) I am running in a half marathon.   In non-runner's terms that is 13.1 MILES. That's right, you heard me.  Now, here is the funny part.  I am not a runner.  In my past, if I was able to run one mile without gasping and hacking for breath, I was proud as punch.  Now I am in training … [Read more...]

Eating healthy does not mean going without your favorite foods or snacks. There are very some very simple changes you can make and still eat the foods you like. I keep up on nutrition, food trends what the 'professionals' say we should and should not do. I am over weight because I don't eat enough. Yes you heard that right. Most days I eat twice a day and I eat very lean. My body reads that as starvation and holds onto everything I eat, I average 1000 calories a day, I should consume … [Read more...]
