I know a lot of us use a coupon file box method of storing inserts.  I do have a nice storage box that I use but sometimes when you are starting out you just don’t have the money to spend on one.  So here is an easy inexpensive way to make a file box.

Coupon File Box Materials-

  • Paper Box (free from my office trash)
  • White Glue ($1 at Dollar General)
  • Sponge Brushes ($3 at Dollar General)
  • Expired Coupons (free instead of throwing out)
  • Styrofoam Plate (free since I use Rite Aid Rewards to buy them)

Step 1-

Put a small amount of glue on Styrofoam plate and water down the glue slightly.

Step 2-

Apply glue to a small section of the paper box. Then put cut out expired coupons onto the box in the section you are working on.

Step 4-

Put a light layer of glue over the coupons.

Step 5-

Once you have covered the entire box and lid, if you want, let it dry.

To Store the coupons you can use the envelopes they come in.  No need to buy anything for this.

Step 1-

Use your sorted inserts to measure the size needed and cut the envelope to size

Step 2-

Use the flap on the top of the envelope to cut a tab.  On the tab you can write the date of the inserts.

Viola that easy!  Inexpensive and super cute file box with no cost files. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Happy Savings!!!

  1. Don’t throw out expired coupons, send them to the military. They are able to use them 6 months past the expiration date.
