Dollar General Trip 4/9

Dollar General Trip Pic 4-9-16

I went on a Dollar General Trip today! There has been a lot of hoopla this week about cheap Gain fabric softener sheets at Walmart and Dollar General so I didn’t expect to find any in stock and I was right. That’s OK though. I went with the 60 count packages at $3 each and still got a great deal. How many times have we run out to get $2 Tide or Gain at CVS? I ended up paying $1.12 per item, which is still nothing to sneeze at.

The original deal was buy 9 Gain fabric sheets, 34ct at $2 each and 2 Gain Detergent, 40oz at $5 each and pay $4 out of pocket, or $0.50 for each item after coupons. I could have driven to a different Dollar General about 5 miles down the road and tried them, but for the $5 I would have saved in cash, and the 99% chance of them not having any either, it wasn’t worth my time, traffic aggravation or the gas. As couponers, we can’t always be looking at just the total coming out of our wallet at the store. There are other factors to consider before you start driving around chasing down a deal. If you face the same issue at your store, you could do this deal instead:
