Why spend money on water and artificial flavor when you can make the real thing? These are fabulous for company too, especially during the hot summer months. Choose about 5 different fruits and let your guests make their own. Have a couple of sweetening items such as cane sugar or honey on hand in case someone wants it. Seltzer water or light herbal tea can be used in place of regular water.
I always have fresh as well frozen fruit on hand so making my own fruit flavored water takes no time at all. At the end of the day I reserve my fruit and make a smoothie out of it. I get a refreshing boost of nutrition without any waste, artificial flavor or artificial sweetener.
All fruits are organic when possible. If using hard fruits such as apples or pears, muddle (gently smash) before adding to water.

- Citrus blend of lemon, lime, orange and pineapple

If I’m working outside in the heat I make a full pitcher and drink my fruit water all day. If I let myself become overheated I can add a little sugar and salt to my glass to replenish my electrolytes quickly. A sprig or leaf of fresh herbs such as mint, basil, rosemary or sage are a delicious addition too.
