I enjoy making playdough for my kids! I have tried many different kinds of playdough recipes and this is the only one that comes out perfect for me every time. I also like knowing that I can pronounce all of the ingredients and that it is  safe to eat although not very tasty. This was my first time using Kool-Aid for color and the kids loved all of the fruity scents.  I have tried some of the non-cook recipes before and was not pleased with the texture.

Kool-Aid Playdough Recipe

Playdough Recipe Ingredients:

2 cups All-purpose Flour

2 teaspoons  Cream of Tartar

2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil

1/2 cup Salt

2 packets Kool-Aid

2 cups Hot Water

Place all dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Mix well. Add oil and hot water. Mix. Will have a semi-liquid consistency. Pour mixture into pot on low heat. Continue to stir until it forms the feel and consistency of playdough.

Remove from heat. Knead with spoon until it cools to touch, then knead with hands. Store in an airtight container or ziploc bags.

I am going to try this, but tell me… did your hands stain to the point of not being able to wash them? I’m wondering if we should wear latex gloves.

How long will the dough keep without getting hard or moldy? Thanks I tried it and it came out perfect!
