1-Minute Manicure Recipe – Help Heal Dry Hands

I first heard about One Minute Manicure on Oprah many years ago. Can you believe that I actually paid $30 for a jar of this “miracle” mixture of salt and oil? Now I know that I can make my own concoction for a lot less! I don’t know about you, but this Winter weather has wreaked havoc on my hands. No matter how much lotion I slather on, it has no affect on my dry, cracked knuckles. If you have been following us for a while, you know that I love mixing up batches of homemade beauty treatments and goodies in my kitchen.

One Minute Manicure Recipe

Make your own 1-Minute Manicure Scrub:

  • Vitamin E Oil
  • Castor Oil
  • Grapeseed Oil
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Avocado Oil
  • Olive Oil
  • Peanut Oil
  • Sesame Oil
  • 1 cup of Sea Salt
  • 20 drops of Lemon Essential Oil (Lemon essential oil has an antibacterial effect that helps treat cuts and wounds on the skin so they can heal. It also soothes itchiness and relieves eczema and similar skin conditions)

Note: You can use just about any kind of oil that you have on hand – even vegetable cooking oil if you’re desperate!

Pour salt into a large bowl, then add 20 drops of Lemon Essential Oil. Finish up by adding equal amounts of each oil. Stir well to mix ingredients thoroughly. I was out of a couple of these oils, so I used the ones that I had on hand and added extra olive oil. Pour into glass container to store.

To Use:

Stir the container to mix the oils with the salt and scoop some out. Massage onto your hands and nails for at least one minute to gently exfoliate your skin. Rinse with cool water. Pat dry. Massage the remaining oil into skin, nails and cuticles until absorbed.

Use once a day to help exfoliate, moisturize and nourish hands and nails. I keep mine next to the kitchen sink. After doing dishes, I treat my hands to a 1-minute manicure!

Homemade Margarita Salt Scrub

  1. Can’t wait to try this! I have most of the ingredients since I’ve been planning on making the bath fizzies from a recipe I found on Pinterest too. I’ve also been reading about making soap from scratch – cranberrylane.com I think – had a pretty good explanation on the whole process and what different ingredients will do or are for. I think Grapeseep oil is a natural preservative 🙂
