Aldi Saves Me Money

Aldi Store

Hey Wiz Kids! Today I headed to one of my favorite places for FRESH Veggies,  Affordable Dairy and other things that I don’t generally have coupons for. ALDI!

I love Aldi’s “less-is-more approach” to shopping. It’s not fancy. It’s not high tech. It’s honest to goodness grocery shopping. From the items they choose to sell in their store (they have less than 1500) and the simplistic designs of their stores and (lack of) displays, it’s back to basics! Bring your own bags~ or use one of the shipping boxes from the items (because they are still in them!) and/or pay .25 to “rent” your cart. This keeps carts out of the parking lot and creates an interesting interaction with shoppers, as we pass off our quarter, with a smile, to the next person coming up for a cart!

I believe that ALDI stores get overlooked by couponers. ALDI stores do not accept coupons and 95% of the items at ALDI are their own brand, with strict quality standards, that match or exceed name brand products, but don’t match their prices! On occasion, you will find brand name products there, but they are special deals and limited quantities.  Can’t beat $2.79 for a gallon of milk! And check out the rest of the haul below :

  • 2 Gallons of 2% Milk
  • 6 lbs oranges
  • Romaine Hearts
  • 2lbs bananas
  • 2 avocados
  • 6 vine on tomatoes
  • bagels
  • English Muffins
  • 2 loaves of bread
  • 3 tubs of cream cheese
  • 1 Pint Half & Half
  • 5 lbs sugar
  • 1 lb bag pretzels
  • 4 boxes of Beef Rice (which I think is better than Rice-A-Roni!)

OOP~ $31.00

I love Aldi, I shop there a lot. Or milk is 2.86/gallon, but better the 3.00+ at my local store. I also love their Fit and Active line of food. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ALDI

  2. I used to shop nothing but aldi before I started couponing but now that I coupon I don’t shop there much but once in awhile!

  3. yeah I would have to agree with you on this too! we go there to buy jusst some of our fruit & veggies too! & some dairy.

  4. I love Aldi. The milk prices will vary from store to store but is still the cheapest around. When the othere stores lack any good sales that I can combine with coupons, I head back to Aldi. Their milk, eggs, and produce are cheaper than any other store in our area. The only issue I have is that their bananas are ALWAYS green and by they time they ripen they are not fit to eat.

  5. Christine Smatlak says

We just had an Aldi open in my area, looks like Im gonna have to check it out! 🙂

  6. I buy most of my produce at Aldis…and their salsa and chips are wonderful! AND less expensive than the big box stores, with coupons!

  7. Jamie Gonzalez says

I love Aldis! I have found their deluxe macaroni and cheese, $1.25 a box, to be just as good as Kraft and Velveeta. There chips are usually under a $1.50 a bag and their salsa and dips are fantastic. I also love their “chunky” can soups. At a $1.25 a can if I don’t have coupons for the name brands, I grab more then a few with no hesitation. I can honestly say they don’t scrimp on quality to go with the cheaper price here.

  8. Kathi Deese says

I love Aldi’s as well. I get all my basics and fruits/veggies there. Their brand of milk is hormone free and I love their butter!

  9. Aldi is 99% the only place I shopped til last year when I started couponing. When we moved here I lost my Aldi so I have to go either 35 miles to the one in Hopkinsville or go to the one when I am in Paducah visiting (which makes it rough to bring back frozen food AND try to visit, lol) Now that I coupon, I don’t go to Aldi as much, but stock up on the items I do get when I go. wish I could stock up when they have their fresh pineapple for 99 cents!!! And who can beat .89 box of saltines? I never find a deal that good at regular stores, and Aldi brand is wonderful!!

  10. We live in Phoenix, but relocated from Northern California. We’ve never even heard of these stores. They sound fabulous, but… Where are they?
