Getting Back In the Couponing Game

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

We have all had times where we have fallen off of the couponing wagon.  Work gets overwhelming, home life gets hectic and something has to fall off the plate.  I just went through a period like this.  I had some health issues and we had some pretty serious home life things to deal with.  But now it's time to dust off the binder and get back in to the swing of things. So this week I sat at the living room table staring at the massive mess that used to be a meticulously organized couponing file … [Read more...]

What To Do With All That Chicken?

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

What To Do With All That Chicken? We all stock up on chicken breasts when we find them at a stockpile price, and several Wiz Kids order their chicken through Zaycon Foods when they do their Chicken Across America Event. How do you prepare to freeze all that chicken? Now, you have bought all that chicken at the store, or you just picked up your Zaycon order, you brought it home, dumped it in the sink to rinse it, and now you think "Wow! That is a lot! What am I going to do with it now?" I … [Read more...]

You CAN do a home DIY remodel project and NOT break the bank!

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

I think we all have that one room in our homes that we wish we could redo and make it the way WE want! Ours is our master bathroom. While it is big with lots of room and a huge walk in closet, we have always hated having a shower separate from the big garden tub. This tub is so big, and takes up just about ¼ of the whole bathroom. We never use it, so why keep it in there wasting space? We made a few visits to the Home Depot and Lowe’s picking out exactly what we wanted and set our budget. We … [Read more...]

Post By- Wizard Michael I want to preface this post with a special thanks to Ana-White.com and her post on Sausha's Washer/Dryer Pedestals. Go there for the actual designs that I modified for my purpose. I will be mainly discussing my modifications and things to watch out for. The reason for the project was to give my wife a place to fold the laundry without dumping it out on the dining room table and it taking 2 days to make it into the closets. We searched the Internet trying to find … [Read more...]

Small Savings Still Count

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

Not every shopping trip will end up being a 90% savings. Heck, some won’t even be 70%!  But ya know what?  That’s ok!  I aim for at least 65% on my trips, but there are times when I don’t even hit 50%. I don’t sweat it. I know that even thought I didn’t hit my mark, I still saved. Today’s Meijer trip was one of those below the mark trips. Even though I only saved 47%, I’m still content. Once I average it all out at the end of the year, the trips that were 90% will average out with trips like … [Read more...]

Wizard Shanna’s Build Your Own Bows

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

Bow Making By Wizard Shanna I love decorating for the holidays. It helps me to get into the spirit of things. What I don’t like is the cost that comes with many of the decorations! One way I have found to get around that is to make some things myself. Every year my kids and I make new ornaments for family and friends. It is something we can do together. There are some things though, that I enjoy doing on my own. One of those is making bows, big, beautiful, fluffy bows. Like the kind you see on … [Read more...]

Talking Nerdy- How do you get your spreadsheet on the iPad?

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

This has to be one of the questions I get asked the most. I do all of my shopping trips on a spreadsheet. I like to update my prices while in the store. I find this much easier. I also use my spreadsheets to keep a price list. It's easier just to copy and paste the lines into my price book. Having my iPad with me in the store has simplified the process. I do have a bluetooth keyboard case for my iPad (thanks hubby for talking me into getting it) but I still like to do my spreadsheets on my … [Read more...]

Talking Nerdy- Scr.app.bk House Inventory App

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

I've been saying for a while that I needed to do a home inventory. I had a friend lose everything in a house fire and saw first hand what she had to go through to get the most she could on her claim. My friend had to list EVERYTHING in her house in order to be reimbursed from her insurance company.  I always thought that if we had a hurricane or something of that nature I could just list the items as we were throwing them out.  But if you have nothing but ashes how do you inventory that.  It's … [Read more...]

Guest Shopping Trip Post By- Angela Powers NOTE- Sales are not currently running. As my life got a little busier than normal this week, I kept pushing my CVS trip off further and further until I realized it was Saturday and I still hadn't been to CVS.  So right after my field trip on the ‘cheesebox” (my school bus) I grabbed my list, and the coupons and headed over hoping that they still had some stock left! Below are the results-Whew! Purchased 1 Clear Scalp Therapy Shampoo @ … [Read more...]

Talking Nerdy- How do you print coupons from your iPhone/iPad/iPod?

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

This is another question I get a lot- how do you print coupons from your iPhone/iPad/iPod? I always print my coupons from the coupon-wizards.com links on my laptop or desktop first. Reason being is that the site gets revenue from these prints and it is a way to support all the free things it offers without costing me a cent. Also I don't print a lot of internet printables. I follow David's suggestion of printing only high dollar coupons. I also print coupons for brands my family prefers. Now … [Read more...]

Guest Post By- Ashley Kaforey I struggled finding that perfect article for you all to read, as I have so many different hobbies & passions that I’d love to share. I figured what was best, since this is the beginning, is talking about where I came from before coupons to where I am now. I figured it’d be best for you all to know me, and know where my integrity lies. In 2004, I became a mom to my very first little girl. I was young, scared, and alone. Weighing In Wednesday- Do You Plan Your Weekly Menu?

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

Do you plan your weekly menu or do you wing it when it's time to start dinner? Personally I like to plan my menu for the week. I usually do them the night before I go grocery shopping. This actually helps me a couple ways.  Not only does it help me stay on track with my eating but it also lays out my shopping trip.  It keeps me from buying extras that I don't need in the house. I know when I get home the last thing I want to do is have to figure out what is for dinner.  I don't plan out by … [Read more...]
