The world is a happier place with Bang Bang shrimp in it. This recipe is very close to the Bonefish Grill Bang Bang Shrimp dish! I am addicted to Bang Bang tacos! The chili sauce I used is very spicy. Start with 2 tsp and let the sauce rest in the refrigerator while you cook the shrimp. Taste and adjust to your personal preference using 1/4 tsp at a time. If it becomes to spicy, add a little mayo at a time to mellow it out. It can become very hot, very fast. Make sauce in a medium sized bowl, you will be adding the shrimp directly to it.

Bang Bang shrimp is great by itself, on a salad, as part as a surf and turf meal or as tacos. I simply heat a tortilla, add some fresh salad greens, some goat cheese, pineapple, add shrimp and enjoy! If adding to a salad, make extra sauce to use as your dressing. Thin with a little pineapple juice or chicken broth if needed. I prefer pineapple juice.

Bang Bang Shrimp

Bonefish Grill Bang Bang Shrimp
  • 1 lb medium shrimp, shelled and deveined
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup unseasoned Panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/4 onion powder
  • 1/4 garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
  1. Combine milk and egg in a small bowl, set aside.
  2. Combine flour, bread crumbs and all spices in a second bowl.
  3. Taste your sauce before you begin cooking and adjust as noted above if needed.
  4. Add shrimp to breading then dip in egg mixture then back in the breading. Coat evenly, place shrimp on a plate and refrigerate 15-20 minutes to set up. This step helps the batter stick to the meat.
  5. In the meantime I added 1″ of canola oil to a heated heavy duty non stick pan. Cook shrimp in batches if needed. Do not over crowd. Once breading begins to brown, turn shrimp over and continue to cook for about 1-2 min.
  6. Remove shrimp with slotted spoon and add directly to sauce, gently toss and set bowl aside. Repeat with the next batch until all shrimp is cooked. You do not need to remove shrimp from sauce, just add the next batch.

Bang Bang Sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2-3 TBSP pineapple juice or chicken broth, consistency to your preference
  • 2 tsp Sriracha chili sauce (found in Asian section), see taste adjustments above
  • 1 TBSP rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar (omit if you are using pineapple juice)

Combine all ingredients and refrigerate until needed.
