Twisted Bacon and Eggs

twisted bacon and eggs

OK these aren’t twisted but they are cool. I came across some photos of twisted bacon and eggs and I thought they were worth trying.  Let the kids help you make them and who knows? They may even eat the vegetables because they made them themselves.

I experimented and discovered any large metal cookie cutter coated with spray oil or using a 1/4″ slice of bell pepper worked best. I cooked the bell pepper rings in the microwave on high for 1 minute to soften before adding to pan. The canning jar lids were a bust, I knew that before I tried it. The eggs were rubbery because they had to cook too long and they refused to release so I chopped them up and made egg salad.

I love BLTs, but the bacon always falls out. Well not anymore. Basket weave bacon and bake in oven about 20 minutes or until crisp to your liking at 350 degrees and make BLT’s or place on a piece of toast, layer with an egg and any additional toppings of your choice such as sauteed mushrooms, onions, spinach, hot sauce, cheese, etc.

Another neat idea I found are these bacon cups formed on the back of a large muffin tin. You can fill with salad, your favorite scrambled egg mixture or anything else you like.

Think outside the box and play with your food! These twisted bacon and eggs will get you started.

Bon Appetite~ Valerie
