DIY Patriotic Wreath
My son and I wanted to make something patriotic for the house this year and were happy to find the supplies we needed for this kids craft at the dollar store!
Kids Craft-Patriotic Theme
What you will need:
- White paper plates
- Crepe paper
- Ribbon/string
- Glue
- Scissors
- Red, & blue construction paper (white paper is optional)
- Star stencil or cookie cutter
(Most dollar stores carry all of these items. I have a Dollar Tree here and that is where I purchased the crepe paper, ribbon, and white paper plates. They also carry glue, scissors, stencils, and construction paper, but I had those items already on hand.)
Step One: Cut out the center of the paper plate. Older kids should be able to do this; however, younger kids should defer to an adult for this step. Then tie a ribbon around the top of the plate for hanging. You can secure the ribbon/string to the plate with a dab of glue or small piece of tape.
Step Two: Have your child use the stencil/cookie cutter to trace stars onto the paper. Then, using scissors, cut the stars out. (For younger children I would suggest doing this beforehand and having the stars already cut out).
Step Three: Glue the stars onto the paper plate, focusing around the rim and then filling in around the rest of the plate. For the streamers, cut pieces of ribbon/string and glue to the bottom of the plate.
You can then hang your patriotic kids craft on a door, or even outside to give your home some patriotic decor!
