How to Coupon- You Need Coupons

How to Coupon - Have the Coupons

Everyone is always asking, teach me how to coupon. How do you do it? Where do I start? To be honest, I learned to coupon by trial and error. I wish there were an easy way to explain the process. I wish I could say do this, then do that and there you go! Sadly though, it’s not that easy. Like most things in life that are new to you, you need to have a desire to learn and the will to put in the work. Just doing it, as they say.

How I Started Couponing

A quick word on how I started. My husband had lost his job & was having a hard time finding a replacement. I had a job as a virtual assistant, but it didn’t bring in a lot of money. A friend of mine told me about a “couponing blog” and I started to follow it. This blog led me to another, to another and finally to The Coupon Wizards. They would post a deal at Publix and say which coupons to use. I would copy the example, go shopping and get the deal. One deal at a time, I learned how to coupon through trial and error and asking a lot of questions. Eventually I took over this blog and there you go. I learned and now I teach you, one blog post at a time.

Learn How to Coupon by Having the Coupons

manufacturer coupons how to couponIn order to practice these deals though, you need coupons. You can’t learn how to coupon if you don’t have coupons in the first place to try out the deals. Get Sunday papers every week for the inserts. Whether you buy them yourself or purchase just the inserts through an insert service, this is where you’ll get the majority of your coupons. You can also order individual coupons through a clipping service, print coupons on the Internet (there’s a whole section here on the blog devoted to printable coupons), look for them in your mailbox, at the doctor’s office or ask your friends, etc.

After You Have Some, Start Practicing How to Coupon

Once you start keeping your eyes peeled for coupons, you won’t believe all the places you’ll find them. If you need some ideas for buying inserts, check out Insert Insanity or Sunday Coupon Inserts. The two coupon clipping services I also use are Wiz Clipz and Coupon Flea Market. Usually I’ll just go buy papers at the store, but I live in Tampa. A big metropolitan area. If you live in a small market, inserts services may be the way to go. Let me know other places you find coupons in the comments section so we can all learn together.

Until next time,
Start Practicing ~ Michele!
