Low Country Boil or Shrimp Boil

Low Country Boil

Low country boil, shrimp boil, call it what you want, I call it delicious. You can easily make this to your taste and it is ridiculously healthy. This is how I make it. Serves 4, but can easily be cut down or added to as needed.

Low Country Boil Ingredients
  • 4 Snow Crab clusters (One for each person)
  • 1 lbs Med Shrimp (1/4 lb per person)
  • 1 lbs Crawfish (optional)
  • 1 lbs Andouille or Kielbasa sausage, cut on 2-3′ pieces (Mix it up)
  • 2 Ears of corn, cut in 1/2
  • 2 large red potatoes, cut in 1/2
  • 1 8oz pkg Whole mushrooms
  • 1 med  sweet onion, quartered
  • 1 whole Broccoli bunch
  • 1 boil in bag Crab Boil or 1/2 cup Old Bay (I prefer Old Bay)
  • 1 lemons, quartered for garnish
  • Cocktail sauce and/or melted butter for dipping

Directions:
  1. Fill a large stockpot about 1/2  with water, add the boiling bag or Old Bay bring to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, add the sausage and potatoes and cook for roughly 8-10 minutes or until potatoes are just soft, remove, set aside on large cookie sheet.
  3. Add the corn, onion and mushrooms and cook another 5-7 min. Remove everything, set aside on same cookie sheet.
  4. Add crab and cook about 10 min, add shrimp and crawfish. Cook 3, add broccoli, cook another 3 minutes or until shrimp is done.
  5. You can lay all the food out on newspaper across your counter or in large bowls, I just leave it on the cookie sheets.
  6. Serve with cocktail sauce and melted butter.
