Pet Safety on the Fourth of July

Fireworks Pet Safety

Pet safety is paramount this time of year. Did you know the single two busiest times of the year for shelters are the days following New Years Eve and the 4th of July? Dogs hate fireworks. I mean they hate them! I had a German Shepherd eat through a wall in the house once while I was at a fireworks show. An ordinarily docile animal can react in unordinary ways.

  • Have panic attacks
  • Can become aggressive
  • Dig out of yards
  • Jump over fences
  • Become destructive
  • Potty in the house

While many of us love spending time with our animals and visa versa, if there are fireworks involved, it’s a good idea to secure your animals for their own sanity. Taking your dog to a show or leaving them in the yard unattended can be detrimental for them.

What You Can Do to Ensure Pet Safety
  • Please make sure your dogs are wearing their tags in the event they bolt.
  • Call shelters within a 50 mile radius of the dog’s last know location. Animal control will take animals wherever there is an open cage, not necessarily the closest one to you.
  • If you go out, turn the TV on with the volume a little higher than normal to help drown out the noise.
  • If you have a dog door, secure it, keeping the dog inside.
  • Close window coverings so they can’t see the neighborhood fireworks.

The holiday will be much more enjoyable if you follow these pet safety tips. How happy is a holiday if something goes wrong for your furbaby?

This isn’t Extreme Couponing, it’s Effective Couponing! There is a method to my madness as well. Not only do I find sales & deals for you, but in doing so, I find sales & deals for me too. It’s a win win 😉 Plus I’m able to teach others to do this at the same time, which I love!

I started following The Coupon Wizards after doing some research on the subject, with a little prodding from a friend, and coming across them on Facebook. I was hooked immediately & started to learn quickly. Mostly out of necessity, but also because I loved everything about it. The organization, the researching, the putting together of deals, but most of all, the savings! I was saving my family money to pay those bills & be able to eat all at the same time. This blog was a life saver; literally! In no time at all, I was a blogger myself on the site. My husband has since found a job, but this is now mine and I love, love, love it and hope you will to. Let me know what you think in the comments.
