Make an Easy No Sew Valance

A no sew valance is an easy way to dress up any window. Last week I showed you how to make a box style valance. This week, I’ll show you an even simpler one to make!

What you need for Your No Sew Valance:
  • Fabric- I used an old flat sheet
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon that matches your fabric
  • Glue gun or Liquid Stitch
  • Iron

  1. Measure the width of your window. Cut your fabric to 1 1/4 times the width of the window (If your window is 36 inches wide, your fabric would be cut to a length of 45 inches.) The width of the fabric is up to you. I cut mine 9 inches wide.
  2. Fold and iron a 1/4-1/2 seam around the border of the fabric and secure with hot glue or liquid stitch. I used the finished edge of my fabric so I only had to seam two sides.
  3. Once your edges are done, cut ribbon into 5 inch lengths. You will need enough loops to place every 3-4 inches along the length of the fabric.
  4. Make a loop with the ribbon, securing the ends with the hot glue or liquid stitch.
  5. Secure your ribbon loops to the back side of the fabric.
  6. Once the glue is dry, you are ready to hang your valance.

The best part about this project (other than it is no sew) is that you can make it to match any room in the house. I was able to finish this valance in under an hour.
