Day Eleven Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning Refrigerator

It’s that time of year again-Spring! When the last of the fall leaves finally come off of my tree in the front yard, the flowers start to bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are longer, and hopefully it’s getting warmer. Well I guess here in Indiana I’m still waiting on the getting warmer part! Then comes the thought of Spring cleaning. A thought that I push way to the back of my mind, but it still creeps back to the front.

I definitely want to do a good Spring cleaning, but just wasn’t sure where to start and then Wham! There the answer was in my email box. Home Made Simple sent me the solution. A 30 day Spring cleaning plan. Home Made Simple is a company owned by Proctor and Gamble. Their website has recipes, organization, crafts, decorating, DIY projects and more!

Friday April 5-Day 11

It is time to open the refrigerator and freezer and get them cleaned out. This means washing all the surfaces, going through the food items inside, along with taking out all of the shelves and washing them. I have a feeling this will be one of the least favorite tasks on the list! For me at least. Haha! Maybe it’s time to find some new refrigerator storage to help keep it better organized? Or maybe you just need to give the shelves a good washing and you will be done?  I am taking everything out, making sure I don’t need to get rid of anything, then washing all the shelves and surfaces. I am planning on getting some organization shelves or bins to help contain some of the smaller items too.

Tips and Tricks

Check out some great tips on cleaning out your refrigerator from Home Made Simple. I definitely plan on going from top to bottom, going through items, and washing all the shelving. I might even try putting the shelves in the dishwasher like one of tips from Home Made Simple. They also have some great tips for cleaning out your freezer. This one I may have to put my gloves on for! This is something I have been meaning to do, so I can’t wait to get it done!

Day Ten Spring Cleaning Progress

Are your pantries all neat and organized? Did you find some things to get rid of? I found about 3 bags of chips that only had crumbs in them. Geesh, I wonder if that was my son or my husband? Probably both! I was able to wash out all of the bins I have things stored in and even dust off the stockpile shelf and make sure it was organized. I threw a couple of things away, but all in all it went pretty smooth. Feels good to check something else off the list!!
