Day 5 of Spring Cleaning Challenge

spring cleaning

It’s that time of year again-Spring! When the last of the fall leaves finally come off of my tree in the front yard, the flowers start to bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are longer, and hopefully it’s getting warmer. Well I guess here in Indiana I’m still waiting on the getting warmer part! Then comes the thought of Spring cleaning. A thought that I push way to the back of my mind, but it still creeps back to the front.

I definitely want to do a good Spring cleaning, but just wasn’t sure where to start and then Wham! There the answer was in my email box. Home Made Simple sent me the solution. A 30 day Spring cleaning plan. Home Made Simple is a company owned by Proctor and Gamble. Their website has recipes, organization, crafts, decorating, DIY projects, and more!

Friday March 29, 2013-Day 5

Time to clean out the attic. Is the attic where you store your Seasonal decorations, or where your store your old prom dresses and clothes your kids have outgrown? Or have you been hearing bats in your attic? In both cases, you might want to get your attic cleaned. Well, today is your lucky day-well sort of!

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks

To start with, first let’s get rid of those bats in the attic. You could contact a bat removal company like Covenant Wildlife Removal to do away with that bat problem so you can focus on decluttering all those piled-up things. Once that is done, to clean your space off the unwanted things, you can consider donating things you no longer want to either a charity or someone you know. Ask yourself am I really ever going to wear these prom dresses again? Or do I really need 8 different Christmas tree skirts, and do I really have a place for all 30 scarecrows? Now I’m not naming names here, but I happen to like scarecrows-Haha! I think I have some cleaning to do. Although my storage items are not in an attic. My attic is out in our garage and is empty. Whew!

Instead of the attic today I am cleaning out my van. I cannot wait to get it done and put a nice new air freshener in! If you don’t have an attic what are you doing today? This is a great day to get something done from the list you made on day one.

Day Four Progress

Are your baseboards sparkling and dust bunny-free? I have baseboards in the laundry room, kitchen, and both bathrooms. I ended up using the diluted vinegar solution after I vacuumed the dust bunnies off. I also tried the dryer sheets after they were dry to see if maybe it will help with future dust buildup. I decided to save cleaning the trim to the same day I do the windows. Whew! Glad it’s done.
