Day 17 Spring Cleaning Challenge

spring cleaning

It’s that time of year again-Spring! When the last of the fall leaves finally come off of my tree in the front yard, the flowers start to bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are longer, and hopefully it’s getting warmer. Well I guess here in Indiana I’m still waiting on the getting warmer part! Then comes the thought of Spring cleaning. A thought that I push way to the back of my mind, but it still creeps back to the front.

I definitely want to do a good Spring cleaning, but just wasn’t sure where to start and then Wham! There the answer was in my email box. Home Made Simple sent me the solution. A 30 day Spring cleaning plan. Home Made Simple is a company owned by Proctor and Gamble. Their website has recipes, organization, crafts, decorating, DIY projects and more!

Thursday April 1, 2013 Day Seventeen

Today is the day to dust off all of your furniture, electronics and mirrors in your home. Grab your dust polish and glass cleaner and head towards the furniture. This task I imagine will be pretty simple, depending the amount of furniture that you have.

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks

I dust on a pretty regular basis, so this shouldn’t take long for me. I do want to dust some things that may or may not been overlooked a few times. Haha! For instance, my clock on the wall and the decorative things I have alongside it. I also have a high shelf in my room that I don’t dust as much as everything else.

This is a good time to dust off and/or wipe down your electronics also. Make sure you are using the proper cleaning supplies that are specific to your product. For example for my television I cannot use glass cleaner on it, so I have to buy special electronic cleaning wipes. My hubby would not be a happy camper to come home and see the picture on the screen ruined because I was “Spring cleaning.” Now is also the time to wipe down all of your mirrors too. I just have one decorative mirror to clean and then one big one in the bathroom, so those shouldn’t take too long.

Home Made Simple has some tips for dusting your furniture that you can check out too. You can also head over to read about their tips on cleaning your electronics if you are unsure of how to clean them safely or just need some suggestions. I love their tip about working your way around a room in a circle. My Mom taught me that as a kid and I teach it to my son. Start it one corner and work your way around. That’s what I have done since I was little. Good luck on today’s challenge.

Day Sixteen Progress

Are all of your picture frames and artwork all wipe down and/or dusted? Mine are! It didn’t take too long because I don’t have a lot up right now, but they are all dust free now and I cleaned the glass on the frames too. I am in for a big dusting chore when I get all of my new frames up that I have been collecting, but I still can’t wait to put them all up!
