Day 16 Spring Cleaning Challenge

spring cleaning

It’s that time of year again-Spring! When the last of the fall leaves finally come off of my tree in the front yard, the flowers start to bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are longer, and hopefully it’s getting warmer. Well I guess here in Indiana I’m still waiting on the getting warmer part! Then comes the thought of Spring cleaning. A thought that I push way to the back of my mind, but it still creeps back to the front.

I definitely want to do a good Spring cleaning, but just wasn’t sure where to start and then Wham! There the answer was in my email box. Home Made Simple sent me the solution. A 30 day Spring cleaning plan. Home Made Simple is a company owned by Proctor and Gamble. Their website has recipes, organization, crafts, decorating, DIY projects and more!

Wednesday April 10, 2013 Day Sixteen

It’s time to wipe down your picture frames and/or artwork.  In my home all of the artwork are photographs. Being a photographer I love having a lot of pictures around.  When I was little my Mom used to have Home Interiors parties and she would buy “groupings” of things like artwork, candles, and flowers that all matched. I remember many parties at our house and she still has some of those “groupings” in her home today. Hmmm, maybe it’s time for her to update? Haha! If you have framed photographs now is the time to wipe the glass and dust the frames. If you have framed artwork now is the time to wipe down and/or dust the frames on them too.

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks

I have been collecting new frames for awhile now in hopes to change all of the frames in my house. My only request was that they be all black. It’s such a striking contrast on walls, and I just love the look of black frames. In preparation for this  all the new frames are being stored in my closet and my walls still have the old frames hung up. My living room and hallway are getting painted in June and I don’t want to put all the new ones up until then. In the meantime I am making sure I have all my photos gathered that I want to display in those frames.

My favorite type of frames are the big collage frames that have sayings with them or meaningful words (family, friends, believe, dream, etc.) either in big block letters that you can hang with the frames or attached to the frame itself. I scored a couple of those on Black Friday at a steal and they even matched my new black frame criteria. I cannot wait to hang them up!

I will be grabbing my dust polish and glass cleaner and sprucing up the frames that are currently hanging up. I always take the frame down to dust it and check behind to make sure their are no dust bunnies on the wall where it was hanging. This is also a good time for re-arranging your artwork/photographs and even putting new photos in your frames if the ones you have in there are outdated.

Day Fifteen Progress

Well if you completed yesterdays challenge then you made it halfway through the Spring Cleaning Challenge! If not you can catch up anytime. Just start again when it’s convenient for you.

Did you get all of your winter clothing and gear laundered and put away? It took awhile but I got through all the gloves matched them all up, washed them and put them away-hopefully until next Winter. It was 70 degrees here yesterday, but going back in the 50’s soon. Hey I will take 50’s over 30 and snow any day! I went through all the hats and scarves too and now have them tucked away with the gloves. I washed and hung up our Winter coats too and found a good size box for our boots and snow pants to be stored in. Here’s hoping for warmer weather that stays around for awhile!
