Day Ten or Spring Cleaning Challenge

spring cleaning

It’s that time of year again-Spring! When the last of the fall leaves finally come off of my tree in the front yard, the flowers start to bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are longer, and hopefully it’s getting warmer. Well I guess here in Indiana I’m still waiting on the getting warmer part! Then comes the thought of Spring cleaning. A thought that I push way to the back of my mind, but it still creeps back to the front.

I definitely want to do a good Spring cleaning, but just wasn’t sure where to start and then Wham! There the answer was in my email box. Home Made Simple sent me the solution. A 30 day Spring cleaning plan. Home Made Simple is a company owned by Proctor and Gamble. Their website has recipes, organization, crafts, decorating, DIY projects and more!

Thursday April 4, 2013-Day 10

We are heading into the pantry for today’s challenge. Time to get those pantry cabinets clean and organized. Is it time for some new plastic containers for your cereal? Do you need a total overhaul of your pantry? Are you in need of a new pantry organizer?  Or do you just need to re-arrange and clean. Whatever needs done in your pantry, today is the day!

Tips and Tricks

Check out some great tips on cleaning and organizing your pantry from Home Made Simple. I use plastic cereal containers to hold all my cereal and love them. I store a lot of things in bins to keep them organized and find that makes  it easier to get to items that way. I will also be going through two cabinets where we store our basic food items to make sure the shelves are clean and see if I can organize anything a little bit better. I have a shelf that houses some of my stockpile items, so I will make sure that is dusted and organized too.

Spring Cleaning Day Nine Progress

Did you try any new or nifty folding techniques with your towels? Are your sheets all organized? Lucky for me it didn’t take too long for me to re-organize and clean my linen closet! I got rid of some twin sheets for the simple reason we don’t have a twin bed! I wonder where they even came from? LOL! I was also able to dispose of some old medicines and re-organize things, which made the whole closet look so much better. As for the new folding techniques I am a creature of habit and stuck to the norm. However, I do want to try the fan idea for when I have guests here. It sounds like it would look different and be something unique to try.
