Day 12 Spring Cleaning Challenge

spring cleaning challenge

It’s that time of year again-Spring! When the last of the fall leaves finally come off of my tree in the front yard, the flowers start to bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are longer, and hopefully it’s getting warmer. Well I guess here in Indiana I’m still waiting on the getting warmer part! Then comes the thought of Spring cleaning. A thought that I push way to the back of my mind, but it still creeps back to the front.

I definitely want to do a good Spring cleaning, but just wasn’t sure where to start and then Wham! There the answer was in my email box. Home Made Simple sent me the solution. A 30 day Spring cleaning plan. Home Made Simple is a company owned by Proctor and Gamble. Their website has recipes, organization, crafts, decorating, DIY projects and more! Join me as we take 30 days to complete the Spring Cleaning Challenge.

Saturday April 6, 2013-Day Twelve

Today’s Spring Cleaning Challenge is to clean your washer and dryer. I have to admit that until I wrote this article I didn’t realize there was such a thing as washing machine cleaner. I actually used to watch my Grandma use a vinegar solution to clean out the washer. I usually am pretty good about cleaning the lint trap and hosing, but I will be giving it a once over just to make sure. It’s also a good time to look around your laundry area and see if it needs organized too. My Mom used to have one of those rolling carts that held everything and kept it neat and easy to reach. I use an extra microwave cart for mine. I will be dusting that off and making sure it is clean too.

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Home Made Simple has some great tips on washing machine care. I will be washing all of the outside surfaces as well as the underside of the lid on the washer. I wonder if the cleaning solution will get the tip top of the inside of the washer. I don’t think it will so I will be cleaning that too. For the dryer I will wash the outside surfaces and double check my lint trap and the hosing too. Here are some great tips on dryer care from Home Made Simple.

Day Eleven Progress

So did you all make it through the refrigerator cleaning? Whew! I did and boy am I glad it’s done! I decided to have my eleven year old son help me. You can imagine his happiness when I told him. LOL Anyways, as we are taking the shelves out and such he explained to me how he thought it would be a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to stand inside the refrigerator to see what it was like. I just laughed until I realized that he was serious. So we got everything out and cleaned out and the picture below is his moment in the fridge. The “once in a lifetime” part made me laugh. I do clean the refrigerator out more than once in a lifetime. He just never helps! Haha! I hope you get a laugh out of it! So glad that this Spring Cleaning challenge is over!
