Day 29 of the Spring Cleaning Challenge

spring cleaning

It’s that time of year again-Spring! When the last of the fall leaves finally come off of my tree in the front yard, the flowers start to bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are longer, and hopefully it’s getting warmer. Well I guess here in Indiana I’m still waiting on the getting warmer part! Then comes the thought of Spring cleaning. A thought that I push way to the back of my mind, but it still creeps back to the front.

I definitely want to do a good Spring cleaning, but just wasn’t sure where to start and then Wham! There the answer was in my email box. Home Made Simple sent me the solution. A 30 day Spring cleaning plan. Home Made Simple is a company owned by Proctor and Gamble. Their website has recipes, organization, crafts, decorating, DIY projects and more!

Sunday April 14, 2013-Day Twenty

Who’s ready for day twenty? I am, and so glad to be moving right along! Today’s challenge is wiping down your countertops and cabinets in the kitchen. Grab your favorite cleaning solution and head into the kitchen. Perhaps you’ve had your countertops for a while now, or perhaps you’ve recently decided to get some beautiful natural stone countertops installed. Either way, keeping them clean and maintained is important.

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Home Made Simple has some helpful tips for cleaning your counters and cabinets. I love their tip to first take a good look at your countertops and decide if you need to de-clutter and/or re-organize anything. I am planning on moving a couple of things around so it looks a little more streamlined and more organized. I have an extra lazy susan I have been wanting to put out too, so I need to find a good place for it to go. Every house I have ever lived in, I use lazy susans. I even use them in the bathroom closet!

I also have a good size fish tank on one of our counters and I’m thinking of moving it. We used to have it in the living room until our old one cracked and soaked a portion of the room. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions. This is what Spring Cleaning is about to me. Taking time to look at your things and deciding what to re-purpose, change, move, or get rid of. Good luck with today’s challenge!

Day Nineteen Progress

Your flatware should be nice and shiny today. If you didn’t clean flatware, were you able to check something off the list you made on day one? I was able to go through a few of my kitchen cabinets. Felt a little under the weather, so I will be finishing them another day. I did decide to get rid of some dishes that I don’t use and a couple of other items too. By the time I’m done I will hopefully have a little more room in my cabinets.
