Day One of Spring Cleaning Challenge

spring cleaning

It’s that time of year again-Spring! When the last of the fall leaves finally come off of my tree in the front yard, the flowers start to bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are longer, and hopefully it’s getting warmer. Well I guess here in Indiana I’m still waiting on the getting warmer part! Then comes the thought of Spring cleaning. A thought that I push way to the back of my mind, but it still creeps back to the front.

I definitely want to do a good spring cleaning, but just wasn’t sure where to start and then Wham! There the answer was in my email box. Home Made Simple sent me the solution. A 30 day Spring cleaning plan. Home Made Simple is a company owned by Proctor and Gamble. Their website has recipes, organization, crafts, decorating, DIY projects and more!

The Spring Cleaning Challenge

To go through the 30 day Spring Clean Plan (all the way!) to get our homes clean and organized so we can then sit back, relax and enjoy the upcoming warm weather!

Schedule

I will be posting each day’s Spring Cleaning Challenge for the Day each day around 11 am and then again around 8:30 pm on The Coupon Wizards Facebook Page. It’s up to you to do the challenge for that day. I know we are all busy so do the challenge to make it as easy on yourself as possible. I know what you’re thinking-cleaning easy? What I mean is maybe you want to do all five of Monday-Friday challenges on Saturday and Sunday because you work during the week. Maybe you can take 2 or 3 of the Spring cleaning challenges and do them all on one day, and split them up that way. Find a strategy and schedule that works for you and your home.

Tips and Tricks for Your Spring Cleaning

Each day I will also be posting links from Home Made Simple that will take you to ideas, tips and tricks for helping you complete the Spring-cleaning challenge. I will also try to include all other possible areas and ideas of cleaning ranging from pest control to calling professionals for Air Duct Cleaning in Seattle (or any other place). I will also let you know how it’s going with my personal Spring cleaning. Hopefully I can keep up with all of you!

Monday March 25, 2013-Day 1

Here we go!

Day 1 is pretty simple. After browsing through the checklist just go through all the rooms in your home and take note of things that you want to get done that are not on the list. Maybe you are like me and don’t have any flatware to polish (day 19) or maybe if you’re lucky your better half mows the lawn (day 29) so you have a couple of days that you can fill with things that are specific only to you. Also, you may want to get any tools ready that are necessary for the big clean-up. You’re likely going to throw away a lot of stuff that you don’t need anymore or are cluttering up the space, so opting for a Roll Off Dumpster Rental of the right size could prove to be helpful throughout.

What I plan on doing is going through the list and crossing off anything that doesn’t pertain to me and filling it in with other things that I want to get done. For instance I desperately need to clean the inside of my mini van. Even though it’s not a part of the inside of my house I definitely want to include it in my Spring cleaning. A whole winter of boots, mud, etc. It’s time to clean and refresh to get ready for beach balls and blankets. Another thing I want to tackle are my kitchen cabinets. Time to go through and re-organize, and wipe them down.

Onward to clean and organized houses in 30 days! Let the Spring cleaning challenge begin!

Mow the lawn????? There’s 6 inches of snow on the ground Angela, and I live in Indy too! LOL

    • (Angela) Well Gale I’m being optimistic about day 29. LOL I doubt we will have to mow yet by then too. I will need to put my fertilizer stuff down though. We only got a dusting of snow here thankfully. I hope it warms up before leave raking. Our forecasters are saying spring like weather is on the horizon. I wonder how far out the horizon is? haha!

  2. So sorry to hear about the snow Gale 🙂 I have strawberries popping up , and vegetables that are getting ready to be picked, down here in sunny florida- but oh, I have so much spring cleaning to do- i need to get it finished , so we can work on painting the inside of the house

    • (Angela) Oh, I cannot wait to see my flowers popping up here! Painting the house will be a big job. We just painted one room last week and let me tell you I am not a fan of painting! haha!
