Steak Pinwheels With Spinach And Feta Cheese

Steak pinwheels are a great way to blend flavors of your favorite ingredients with the amazing taste of good steak. I will admit, I love steak! Whether is be a New York or KC Strip, Ribeye, or a T-Bone; I love them all. My sister-in-law showed me this great way to prepare sirloin steak. You don’t have to use sirloin for this, but it is what I prefer. You could even make this with chicken if that is what you like.

Steak Pinwheels Ingredients:
  • Steak
  • Fresh spinach (you can use canned, but it is not as good)
  • Feta cheese
  • Your choice of seasonings

Directions:

1.  First, lay your meat out on a cutting board. Using a  meat tenderizer, pound out the meat to about ¼ – ½ inch thick.

2.  Add your seasonings. I use black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and a little drizzle of olive oil.

3.  Next, add a layer of feta cheese over the top of the steak. Add a layer of spinach on top of the cheese.

4.  The next part is the most important part. You want to roll it up, but you want to roll it as tight as you can so it will not come undone. Once you have it all rolled up, you will want to stick tooth picks in about every inch to hold it together.

5.  Using a VERY sharp knife, slice the meat between the toothpicks and lay flat on a cookie sheet or a broiler pan. Then you will see your “steak pinwheels.” You need a sharp knife so it will just slide though and you will not have to push hard and crush your pinwheel.

6.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. These usually cook pretty quickly since you pounded the meat pretty thin. When you take them out of the oven, let them rest for a few minutes, then pull the toothpicks out.

We like this best with mashed potatoes and a veggie. Sometimes, we have it just with a green salad. These pinwheels can be made into whatever size you like depending on how big the piece of meat is. Pinwheels are wonderful when you make them appetizer size for any get together!

Enjoy!
