Wildest Coupon Ever Used

My Wildest Coupon Ever As I sit back and think about all of the coupons that I've used, one sticks out in my mind as the wildest coupon and best coupon. Before I tell you what it was for, let me give you a little background. It was June 1996, barely 18 years old, when I headed for a weekend of fun to Reno, NV with my, then boyfriend, of 6 months. We weren't even old enough to legally gamble so we went to Circus Circus and played the carnival games. On To My Wildest Coupon We checked into a … [Read more...]

Walgreens Sunday, Bloody Sunday

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

Walgreens Bloody Sunday The song "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" by U2 is in my head right now as I just got home from Walgreens, and it was quite a scene, to say the least. We only have two Walgreens to supply a town of over 100,000 and today, it seemed like all 100,000 people were couponing all at the same time, in the same store. The one good thing here was that our stores had everything I needed and wanted and I didn't hear any complaining from shoppers. The poor employees of Walgreens, though, … [Read more...]

Walgreens – 93% Savings: Free is Not Always Free

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

My Latest Walgreens Trip I headed to Walgreens today for an almost free shopping trip. Everything pictured here was $45.08 before coupons and free after coupons. I paid only $3.10 in taxes. As you can see, free is not always free when it comes to sales tax. That is why I don't run out and get every deal that is "free" if I have no use for it. The cashier was so impressed by my savings that I gave her the rest of my Tylenol Precise (4) and got2be (2) coupons. Not much, but I hope it helps … [Read more...]

Week of Free Wrapped Up for You

My Week of Free Well, my week of free is over and I had some pretty great scores! I will definitely continue getting free items with coupons! I was feeling weird about the "Walking out of the store for Free" feeling and I really only had one issue, but I know that I'm couponing ethically and not clearing shelves. So I'm getting over the uneasy feeling. My Week of Free Trip to Target 5 Bags IAMS Dogfood @ $3.00 Use 5  Iams Dry Dog or Cat Food $3/1 P&G Insert 01/29/2012 (exp … [Read more...]

Week of Free Part 2 As my week of free continues (see the first post here), I have to say it's gone pretty well (aside from one annoyance). I have more money in my "Grocery" envelope than I would normally have had at this time of the week, and we are all well-fed! I feel like I've been running all over the place this week, which I'm not really thrilled with. I'm happy with my freebies though! Here is the breakdown of what these trips contained: Week of Free at Walgreens 2 Tylenol Precise … [Read more...]

Kelloggs Cereal Deal at Publix Have you taken advantage of the Kelloggs deal yet? One of the things that we tell our readers is that you need to have patience. I realize that is like talking to a brick wall sometimes. However, serious, hard core couponers don't get caught up in the hoopla and hype of a coupon or a deal. They sit back like a big game hunter and wait until they have the perfect shot and then they go for the kill. Italian & Kelloggs Deals at Publix this Week With Italian … [Read more...]

My Walgreens Trip Ready for my Walgreens trip? I am sure I am not the only one who waits with baited breath for my postal carrier!  Living in Minnesota, I have to wait a bit longer than other Wiz Kids to get my Insert Insanity order, but there are some advantages to that.  We live in a community where we only have two Walgreens, Hy-Vee, Target and Walmart. When there are really good deals, they get scooped up quickly when coupons come out due to the lack of stores we have here. BUT, by … [Read more...]

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

How Couponing Has Changed My Life Ready to hear how couponing has changed me? As I sat here this week and did my taxes, I also went through all my receipts. You see, I keep every receipt for every purchase I make and put them in an envelope by month. At the end of the year I go through them and toss what I no longer need. What really struck me this year is the realization of how my spending habits have changed. Last year at this time I was spending $850.00 a month on groceries and saving … [Read more...]

Total Higher Than Expected? Here are Some Possible Reasons

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

You plan your trip, you use the match ups and you have the coupons you need but a total higher than you figured was NOT expected. There are a few things that can cause this. If this happens to you consider making smaller trips, they are much easier to control. I added some suggestions for this below. Total Higher? What to Look For Did you consider tax on your total? Look at your receipt, some products that we consider food is actually taxable. Did you add something to your cart … [Read more...]

Stockpiling Large Shopping Trips vs Small Shopping Trips

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

Stockpiling - Go Large or Go Small? Note for beginners: When just starting out stockpiling, start small. Choose 3-4 items to add to your stockpile at a time. When you're first starting out, less is more. Take into consideration that you will also be adding items like milk, meat or produce because you need them that week which means you have more items to keep track of. If there are several items in your ad that you can stockpile and your budget allows for it, plan on making 2 trips instead of … [Read more...]

Shopping Trip – Getting Ready for One

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

Getting Ready for a Shopping Trip How I prepare for a shopping trip is probably very different from most. I am a paper and pencil kind of girl. Computer spreadsheets are great for some, confusing to me. This is how I get ready for my shopping trips. I first sit down and scroll through the store matchups and see if any of the Best of the Best are things that we need. After writing the deal down and where to find the coupon, I then go through the ad to see if any items that we need are on … [Read more...]
