Do You Pay Your Children? Teaching children about money can be as easy or as difficult as you make it. One thing that I have learned from raising my boys is that you need to pay your children in the currency that they desire and understand. To clarify, Grayson understands money. He has been able to figure simple sales tax since he was 5 and he knows what it means to work for a dollar. He understands that he needs to save. He understands that he needs to make good decisions with his spending … [Read more...]

Tip #3 for Shopping for Cars Before you start going ballistic sending me emails and commenting, please read this entire article on shopping for cars. If you have ever heard me speak, you know that I think that leasing a vehicle is one of the absolute worst financial decisions you can make. It falls right in line with having a car payment in my book. In fact, it's worse because you aren't really paying down any debt, you are perpetuating it! However, by and large people will do what society … [Read more...]

Chili Cheese Dip

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

This Chili Cheese Dip is a recipe that my wife's family has had during football games for as long as she can remember. I recall the first football game that I watched with her family. Everyone was excited for this Dip as the game started. I remembered thinking, "What's so special... it's a dip!" It tastes best when cooked in the crockpot, but if you are in a rush, you can do it quickly on the stove top as well. Chili Cheese Dip w/ Tortilla Chips Cook in a crock pot 4 hours on … [Read more...]

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

Slow Cooker Chicken Salsa Slow Cooker Chicken Salsa is one of my families 'Go To' recipes that we eat a couple times a month. There are a lot of little twists/additions, etc., that you can do with it to change it up some, but it always has that same great taste. Like all Slow Cooker Recipes, it's a "start it and leave it" process so we still can have a healthy dinner even on our most hectic week nights. Slow Cooker Chicken Salsa with Rice Cook in a crock pot 6-8 hours on low … [Read more...]

Laundry Detergent Tablet Storage

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see Full Disclosure Policy for more information.

Laundry Detergent Pods Storage   I recently purchased  several bags of laundry detergent tablets and the bags take up a lot of room in my stockpile so I came up with this idea. The milk container is sturdy enough to hold up, I have easy access to the tabs in my laundry room cabinet and it holds 92 tablets allowing me to toss 5 bags. Wash the milk container and let dry thoroughly. Cut a large enough hole near the bottom to fill with tablets. You can remove them easily, the tablets … [Read more...]

How to Place a Special Order Have you ever thought about placing a special order, but you were unsure if your store would do it or thought it may be a burden? Well it's actually not. All you need to do is ask. We have all come across a situation when we really want to buy something in larger quantities because it's at our stockpile price. Maybe it's a product that you don't see a lot of when you go to buy it or maybe it's something that doesn't go on sale very often. Whatever the reason, keep … [Read more...]

Wizard Melissa Saves Ready to see what Wizard Melissa scored? The Cereal stock up sales are in full swing at our local grocery stores and I hesitated to even get more because I'm fully stocked for my family, but at these prices, I could not resist. Hy-Vee has 50% off of their Kellogg's cereals (all of them) and with that, and the killer $5/5 Kellogg's Cereals coupon that David posted, we would have been loony not to take advantage of that. Basically the cereal came to under $1 per box, so for … [Read more...]

xx When I ask people what their single largest grocery expense is, aside from diapers and formula the answer is usually meat. I agree, it's my largest expense too. If you are not in a position to stockpile meat due to your finances or limited freezer space, then this little article may be very helpful to you. I used to shop for everything this way. There is just not enough room in a side by side, right? The only reason I can stockpile meat is because I do have a freezer now and I am … [Read more...]

Valerie's Freezer Stockpile This is my current freezer stockpile, but it's also a really good example of how to organize your freezer space. I really wanted an upright freezer, but we don't have the space for it right now so we bought a large chest freezer and put it in the laundry room. I knew immediately that I needed freezer baskets to control the chaos. Luckily 2 plastic milk crates are perfect for the job and very cheap. When we decided to partake in The Coupon Wizards weight loss … [Read more...]

How I Store My Stockpile After some hesitation, here is a peek inside my stockpile. While I am proud of what I have accomplished through couponing, I don't like to feel as if I am bragging or saying, "look at me." I have been couponing since December 2010 and have slowly reached and maintained my stockpile. This is the hall closet, which houses most of the health & beauty items. I have collection boxes in the bottom to throw in any sample size items for donations. I really like having a … [Read more...]
