Walmart Trip from Hell

So here it is Sunday AND payday so why did I decide to go shopping today at Walmart? My initial response would be who the heck knows. Normally I am a very patient woman but 15 min in Walmart and I was going to steamroll the next rude inconsiderate person that crossed my path. Children running around and screaming everywhere, people stopping in mid isle with their cart not caring about anyone around them, ignoring me when I said excuse me and a woman who runs into my cart and doesn’t even acknowledge me. When I said ‘excuse you?’ she told me to get out of her way…..seriously? I clenched my jaw and thought Jesus I need an attitude adjustment before someone gets hurt because I can’t do it on my own today.

I thought maybe if I eat a little something i’ll be in a better mood so I go to the deli before leaving. Enter my attitude adjustment. I was waiting for my chicken strip when I was approached by a man CLEARLY down on his luck. He was trying to talk to me while he was staring at the floor and he was mumbling. I finally got him to look at me and as he tried to get his story out I took pity and interrupted him by telling him ‘i’m sorry but I have no cash’ which was true. He wasn’t looking for money. He was hungry and asked me if I would buy him a piece of chicken. Attitude is now adjusted. I asked him if he would rather have a whole rotisserie chicken, oh yeas Ma’am he said. I now know why I was there. Needless to say I thanked God for my day, for my blessings and for the attitude adjustment I met at Walmart today.

This is Walmart and Publix

Total Value     $205.83

Total OOP       $76.90 including chicken

Total Saved     $128.93

My day?           Priceless

We can never understand God’s Divine appointments, but when they happen we should respond quickly, amen! Thats awesome that you were able to help that person out, you’ve just inspired me to do something I wasn’t sure if I should do or not.

  6. Oh Valerie, God sure does work in mysterious ways doesn’t he! I almost cried reading this. So awesome that GOD placed you right where you needed to be for this man. Thank you for sharing this story. There are so many in desperate need and we ALL can finally step up and help at least one other person in our lives because of ALL that you have taught us. 7. This story blessed my heart and soul, thanks for sharing! God’s purpose is always revealed if we will just be still, and let Him have his way!

  8. Valerie- Thank-you so much for sharing your story. Very inspiring and uplifting. This is yet another reason to coupon. We don’t make a lot of money and like most try to stretch it the best way possible. i have been using coupons on a regular basis now for only about 7 months. Because of couponing I have been able to donate much needed personal hygiene products like razors, shaving cream, shampoo, body soap, finger nail clippers, and combs as well as food products like pasta, rice, cereal, soups, tuna, crackers..Thanks again for sharing your story. God bless!

  11. You know it’s funny how God can use things to adjust our attitudes. I’ve had Him to humble me in ways I NEVER thought possible. Truly moving story and I believe you received a bigger blessing than the gentleman did. Remember…we never know when we are entertaining angels or even…Jesus Himself. I believe we all need to live as if Jesus was every person we meet.

Thank you so much for this. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I had this happen at Wienerschnitzel on July 4th this year. I used coupons and still had 2 chilli dogs and a small fry left over. I gave it to homeless man who asked if I could buy him a hotdog. I gave all of it to him without batting an eye. It would have sat in fridge till next day instead it helped a hungry homeless person. I just wish we didn’t need god’s reminder in this way. Breaks my heart to know how close I have been at times to reversing the situation had it not been for coupons.
